Samsung Galaxy S III Ratings

The following is the review of the U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S III (Google Android) SmartPhone running on U.S. Cellular’s 4G LTE network, posted by Jonathan Meersman on October 12, 2012.

I teach mobile web design and mobile application development classes at the college level. As part of the curriculum, I have used a lot of SmartPhones over the years. I have also personally owned the iPhone and while I loved the iPhone, Android devices are superior because they give users more options.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is the fourth Android device that I have personally owned. I have also tested/previewed approximately 12 other Android phones. This is the most impressive Android device that I have used.

The 8MB camera is the best phone-based camera that I have used on a SmartPhone. While phone cameras don’t have optical zoom, this phone rivals our digital SLR camera in terms of quality. I captured hundreds of pictures with my phone while on vacation in Hawaii. You can’t tell the difference when compared to our regular Olympus digital SLR.

The battery life on this phone is great. I regularly have around 50% battery life left at the end of the day, after 14-16 hours of moderate use.

Pros:

  • Good For Texting
  • Battery Life
  • Ease of Use
  • Camera/Video Quality
  • Wi-fi capable
  • Google maps
  • Screen quality

Cons:

  • Screen brightness in direct sunlight
  • Samsung widgets
